“Simply Red ” Afghan

Finished size approximately 50" x 62"

Despite the name, this afghan can be worked in your choice of color in any worsted weight yarn.

Materials & Supplies

45 oz Cranberry I Love This Yarn! worsted weight yarn
Size “J” crochet hook

Directions:

Row 1: Ch 155, (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in fourth ch from hook, *sk next 2 chs, (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in next ch, repeat from to last ch, hdc in last ch, ch 2, turn

Row 2: (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in each ch 1 sp across, hdc in last hdc, ch 2, turn. Repeat this row until piece measures about 60".

Border: (Note - Ch 2 does NOT count as first HDC)

Round 1:  Working in ends of Rows sc evenly along edge.  3 sc in corner.  Working in free loops of foundation chain, sc in each loop across. 3 sc in corner.  Working in ends of Rows of edge sc evenly along edge.  3 sc in corner.  Working in top of last row, sc across, join with sl st to beg sc.  Ch 2, turn.

Round 2: Hdc in each sc around all four sides working 3 hdc in the corners, ch 1, turn.

Round 3: Sc in each hdc around all four sides working 3 sc in the corners. Finish off. Weave in loose ends.
