11 ½ “ Fashion Doll Easter Dress

 

Materials:

Aunt Lydia’s Fashion Crochet Thread, Size 3 (150 yards per ball) in the following colors and amounts:

White 125 yards
Warm Rose 50 yards
Size “E” crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Small snaps, seed bead buttons or tiny hook and loop tape for closures

NOTE: Ch 3 counts as dc throughout

Hat:

Rnd 1: With White, ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook (6 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)

Rnd 3: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (18 sc)

Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (24 sc)

Rnd 5-7: Sc in each sc around (24 sc)

Rnd 8: Working in FLO, sc in each sc around (24 sc)

Rnd 9: 2 sc in each sc around (48 sc)

Rnd 10: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around (72 sc)

Rnd 11: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around, sl st in next sc, FO, weave in ends (96 sc)

Streamer:

With Warm Rose, ch 60, FO, clip long ends.  Stitch chain to hat.  Tie in knot in back leaving streaming ends.

Dress:

Underskirt:

Row 1: With Warm Rose, ch 27, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn (27 sc)

Row 2-30: Sc in each sc across, FO, leaving a long end for sewing (27 sc)

Overskirt:

Row 1: With White and working in FLO of Underskirt, join with a sl st to Row 30, 2 sc in each sc across, ch 4, turn, (52 sc)

Row 2: Sk first sc, dc in next sc, *ch 1, sk next sc dc in next sc, repeat from * across, ch 4, turn (27 dc and 26 ch 1 sps)

Row 3-11: Dc in next dc, *ch 1, dc in next dc, repeat from * across to beg ch 4, join with sl st to third ch of beg ch 4, ch 4, turn (27 dc and 26 ch 1 sps)

Row 12: Same as Row 11 except ch 1, turn at the end (27 dc and 26 ch 1 sps)

Row 13: Sc in each dc and ch 1 sp across, ch 4, turn (53 sc)

Row 14: Trc in first sc, 2 trc in each rem sc across, FO, leave a long end for sewing (106 trc)

Front Bodice:

Row 1: With White and working in BLO of Underskirt, join with sl st to seventh sc in Row 30 of Underskirt, ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in next 13 sc, ch 1, turn (14 sc)

Row 2-10: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (14 sc)

First Shoulder Strap:

Row 11-13: Sc in next 4 sc, ch 1, turn (4 sc)

Row 14: Sc in each sc across, FO, leave a long end for sewing (4 sc)

Second Shoulder Strap:

Row 1: With White, join with sl st to fourth sc from the end, ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in rem 3 sc, ch 1, turn (4 sc)

Row 2-3: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (4 sc)

Row 4: Sc in each sc across, FO, leave a long end for sewing (4 sc)

First Half of Back Bodice:

Row 1: With White and working in BLO of Underskirt, join with sl st to first sc in Row 30 of Underskirt, ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in next 5 sc, ch 1, turn (6 sc)

Row 2-13: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (6 sc)

Row 14: Sc in first 4 sc, FO leaving a long end for sewing

Second Half of Back Bodice:

Row 1: With White and working in BLO of Underskirt, join with sl st to 21st sc in Row 30 of Underskirt, ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in next 5 sc, ch 1 turn (6 sc)

Row 2-12: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (6 sc)

Row 13: Sc in each sc across, turn, DO NOT CH 1 (6 sc)

Row 14: Sl st in first 2 sc, ch 1, sc in rem 4 sc, FO leaving a long end for sewing.

Dress Assembly:

With Right Sides together, whip stitch front shoulders to back shoulders.  Whip stitch bodice sides together between Row 1 and Row 7 leaving opening for armholes.   With Right Sides together, whip stitch Uderskirt back seam between Row 1 and Row 28.  With Right Sides together, whip stitch Overskirt back seam between Row 3 and Row 14.  Attach small snaps, seed bead buttons or tiny hook and loop tape to open back of bodice and top slit of skirt for closures.

Dress Finishing:

Armhole Edging:

With White, join with sl st to underarm edge of armhole, sl st evenly around, FO, weave in loose ends.  Repeat for other armhole. 

Neck Edging:

With White, join with sl st at back of one neck edge.  Sl st evenly across back flaps, shoulders and neck, FO, weave in loose ends.

Sash:

Row 1: With Warm Rose, ch 25, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn (24 sc)

Row 2: Sc in each sc across, FO, weave in loose ends.  Attach small snap or tiny hook and loop tape to ends of sash and wrap around waist of dressed doll.  Adjust fit as desired.
