REGARDING SELLING
FINISHED ITEMS MADE FROM OUR CROCHET PATTERNS:
I've had lots of people email me asking about conditions
regarding selling finished items made with our
patterns.
Okay
folks, here's the deal. I've always
thought it was kinda crazy for designers not to
allow folks to sell items you made with your own
two little hands and paid for the materials out
of your own pocket. But if that works for
them, then great. I'm not going to do
that.
If
you've taken the time to make, let's say the
Scarecrow Doll for the sake of the argument,
and you've made 10 of him, let's say. They
came out really good (because the pattern was so
easy and cute, of course :o) ) so you'd like to
sell them at the local craft fair, in your Etsy
shop, on eBay or just hanging out on the corner.
Well, knock yourself out! I hope you make
a fortune! Acknowledge that I'm the
designer or don't. I really don't care.
I have better things to worry about, believe
me...I do!
Say
your synagogue or church group wants to make one
of the crochet quilts and a bunch of the purses
to sell to raise funds for the nursery.
More power to you! Go ahead with my
blessing!
But,
now, if you're MoneyGrubbers "R" Us, Inc., Ltd,
LLC, Corp., LMNOP that has 13 year olds sitting
around crocheting all day for a $1.25 and I
start seeing Grannimals show up on the local
Wal-Mart's shelves, we're gonna have to have a
little talk. This also applies if you're a
nice company that pays well, has great insurance
and a pension plan that's outta this world.
If you want to mass produce the items
for in store resale, please
have the decency to contact me. I'm sure
we can come to an agreement. Depending on
what you have in mind it might not even
cost you a dime. Heck, I'd
love Granny Cat staring back at me at the
Wal-Mart but I don't want to feel like I've been
robbed.
Okie
dokie. Got it? Pretty liberal, huh?
I'm not an old grouch, despite what my husband
thinks. Of course, if you're still not
clear you can always
email me
and ask anyway. I don't mind.
Really. Just thought I might be able to
save you some time. After all, you have 30
Scarecrows left to make before the flea market
opens on Saturday morning. |
